MHT-CET-2018 Syllabus, Weightage and Pattern

As decided in the meeting of the experts from Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, given below is the syllabus, weightage and pattern forMaharashtra Common Entrance Test MHT-CET 2018 to be conducted in the month of May, 2018 for admission to First Year of Engineering and Technology, Pharmacy and Pharm D degree course :

1. Syllabus : The questions will be based on Syllabus of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education.

2. Weightage : Approximately 20% weightage will be given to Std. XI curriculum and 80% weightage will be given to Std.XII curriculum while setting the question paper.

3. Difficulty Level : There will be no Negative Marking, however difficulty level will be at par with the JEE (Main) for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and difficulty level for Biology will be at par with NEET. The questions will be mainly application based.

4. Pattern : MHT-CET will consist of 3 question papers of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and each paper will be of 100 marks. Details are as given below :

4.1 Paper 1 (Mathematics)

      10 questions of Std XI

      40 questions of Std XII

      Total 100 marks

      90 minutes duration

4.2 Paper 2 (Physics & Chemistry)

      10 questions of Std XI (each in Phy, Chem)

      40 questions of Std XII (each in Phy, Chem)

      Total 100 marks

      90 minutes duration

4.3 Paper 3 (Botany & Zoology)

      10 questions of Std XI (each in Botany, Zoology)

      40 questions of Std XII (each in Botany, Zoology)

      Total 100 marks

      90 minutes duration

5. Syllabus

Whole syllabus of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics subjects of Std XII

Syllabus of Std Xi shall be as provided below :

a) Physics : Measurements, Scalars and Vectors, Force, Friction in solids and liquids, Refraction of Light, Ray optics, Magnetic effect of electric current, Magnetism.

b) Chemistry : Some basic concepts of chemistry, States of matter: Gases and liquids, Redox reaction, Surface chemistry, Nature of chemical bond, Hydrogen, s-Block elements(Alkali and alkaline earth metals), Basic principles and techniques in organic chemistry, Alkanes.

c) Mathematics : Trigonometric functions, Trigonometric functions of Compound Angles, Factorisation Formulae, Straight Line, Circle and Conics, Sets, Relations and Functions, Probability, Sequences and series

d) Botany : Diversity in organisms, Biochemistry of cell, Plant Water Relations and Mineral Nutrition, Plant Growth and Development

e) Zoology : Organization of Cell, Animal tissues, Human Nutrition, Human Respiration
