3. English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad

About the University : The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, was founded in 1958 as the Central Institute of English (CIE), as an institution to impart quality training in English for teachers. Gradually the Institute extended the scope of its goals, viz., to improve the standard of English Teaching; to undertake relevant research; and to publish materials, to foreign languages. It was therefore renamed the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIEFL) in 1972 with the addition of three major foreign languages German, Russian and French. In 1973, CIEFL was awarded the status of a deemed university. Venturing into newer territories like curriculum development, evaluation, and methodology researches, two new campuses were set up at Shillong (1973) and Lucknow (1979) to include a larger population in its activities.
In 2006 CIEFL was given central university status and accordingly came to be called the English and Foreign Languages University by an act of the Parliament. Now, the EFL University has 7 schools and 26 Departments. Apart from graduate, postgraduate, and Research programmes, EFLU offers postgraduate diplomas, and distance and part time mode courses.

4. University of Allahabad

About the university : The history of the University of Allahabad dates back to the days of the ascendency of the Raj in India. It was established on September 23rd, 1887 by the Act XVIII of the then Central legislature and became the fourth University to be established in the country after Calcutta, Bombay and Madras. Its first entrance examination was held in March 1889. The University made significant contributions in various fields of knowledge and because of this has earned an encomium *Oxford of East*.
Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) is an institute setup in 2000 by Allahabad University (a Central University). The institute runs five centres offering various professional Undergrad, Grad and Diploma courses including the Centre of Media Studies.

5. Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat
Course : Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC)
About the university : The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, originally founded in 1881 as the “Baroda College” is a premier unitary residential University, established on 30th April, 1949. It is a state University with English as its medium of instruction, having 13 Faculties, 3 Constituent Colleges, 2 Institutions and 8 Centers of Specialized Studies. It houses 89 departments spread over 6 campuses (2 rural and 4 urban). There are 16 hostels (12 Boys and 4 Girls), which accommodates about 4103 students. There are 475 residential quarters too for teaching and non-teaching staff.
The University offers around 98 postgraduate courses, 66 Ph.D. programmes, 39 post graduate Diploma courses and 88 undergraduate courses with an option of 347 programmes in 92 subjects. It also offers 11 certificate programmes and 3 post diploma certificate programmes. As many as 205 students are currently enrolled in Ph.D. programmes across various departments, of which 33% of the students are from outside Gujarat State.
