Jiwaji University Gwalior (a State University) came into existence on May 23, 1964. The territorial jurisdiction of the University is spread over the districts of Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur Kalan, Datia, Shivpuri, Guna and Ashoknagar.
In the beginning, the university had 25 affiliated colleges but today 401 Government, Government aided and Private colleges are catering education to the students under its jurisdiction. These colleges are of Medical, Engineering, Science, Education, Nursing, Management, Arts and Commerce etc.

Weightage in Admission Index
(i)A weightage of 5 percent of marks obtained in Entrance Test and 5 per cent of the index shall be given to the candidate holding following certificates. In any case, the total weightage would not exceed 5% of the index. Marks obtained in the test will be treated as index for calculation of weightage.
a) 240 hours participation in NSS activities at University level or B / C Certificate.
b) NCC "C" Certificate.
c) Cultural activities at Inter-University level / National level.
d) Sports activities at Inter-University level / National level.
e) Qualifying exam from Jiwaji University or other Universities of M.P.
(ii)Physically challenged candidates will be given a weightage of 10% in marks obtained in qualifying examination/score of entrance examination, before calculating their index for admission
a) 16% for SC, 20% for ST, 14% for OBC (NCL)
b) 3% for sons/ grandsons/ daughters / granddaughters of freedom fighters and sons/ daughters of permanently disabled defense personnel working and died and physically challenged applicants
c) Horizontal reservation of 30% for female applicants
d) 1 extra seta will be created for wards of regular teachers and officers of the University
e) 1 extra seat will be created for wards of regular Class III and Class IV employees of the University.
(i) For every course, registration fee of Rs. 200/- per course / subject has to be paid along with the application fees Rs. 600/- at the kiosk centre (For example if a candidate applies for three courses she / he needs to pay Rs. 600+600 = 1200/-). A student is permitted to apply to a maximum of fivecourses only.
(ii) The entrance exam for these courses is the same as that for BA-LLB and Hotel Management course offered by the university.
