Thapar Univ 50-50 BTech Seats On Class 12 Marks And JEE Mains
2023-03-30Thapar Institute of Engineering & technology (TIET), a Deemed to be University, Patiala, is accepting applications for 2023 admissions in BE / BTech programs.
Admission to BE/BTech programs shall be conducted through two modes:
a) 50% seats on the basis of JEE Mains 2023 and
b) 50% on the basis of Class 12 score.
Applicants are required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of single application form, they can seek admission through any mode, subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria.
Seats available in each mode: 1,250 (total seats being 2,500).
TIET enjoys All India Rank 28 in the category “Engineering Colleges”, All India Rank 31 in the category “University” and All India Rank 57 in the category “Overall” as per 2022 Rankings by NIRF, GoI.
Streams offered: Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (Patiala Campus), Computer Science & Engineering (Derabassi Campus), Computer Science and Business systems, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Electronics (Instrumentation & Control) Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics
Outside Punjab State Seats: 50% of the seats are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located outside the state of Punjab.
Admission criteria
(A) Admission on the basis of 10+2 marks
50% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of merit of marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent examination in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.

Notes for BTech Biotechnology and BTech Biomedical Engg,
- Score in Physics, Chemistry and Biology shall be considered.
- 50% seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCM background and 50% (30) seats shall be offered to candidates of 10+2 PCB background.
(B) Admission on the basis of JEE (Mains) 2023 / NEET 2023
50% of the total BE/BTech seats shall be filled on the basis of All India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main – 2023 (NEET in case of Biotechnology and Biomedical Engg).
Eligibility: The candidate
i. has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject*.
ii. has appeared in JEE Main - 2023.
iii. possesses a good moral character.
iv. is a citizen of India.
v. has passed 10+2 examination in 2021, 2022 or appearing in 2023.
Notes for BTech Biotechnology and BTech Biomedical Engg,
- Score in Physics, Chemistry and Biology shall be considered.
- Rank in NEET 2023 shall be considered (not JEE Mains)
Application fee & dates
Application made by 8 May 2023: Application fee Rs.1,500/-
Application made after 8 May 2023: Application fee Rs.2,000/-
To be eligible for a particular round of counselling, a candidate must have applied three days prior to that particular counselling round.
Counseling Schedule : Counselling schedule for BE/BTech programme will be announced on the website as and when JEE Mains 2023 / 10+2 PCM results are declared.
