IIIT Hyderabad BTech Admission via SPEC Mode
2021-05-08The SPEC mode is a Special Channel of Admission for B.Tech programmes in International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H). This channel is aimed at identifying students with extraordinary talent or background.
About IIIT Hyderabad : The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) is a Deemed University founded in 1998. A Governing Council consisting of eminent people from academia, industry and government presides over the governance of the institution. Some of the luminaries in the council are Prof. Raj Reddy (University Professor of Computer Science & Robotics, School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University, USA), Shri R. Chandrashekhar (President - NASSCOM), Shri S. Ramadorai (Vice Chairman - TCS), Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala (Professor - IIT Delhi) etc. IIIT-H is organized as research centres and labs, instead of the conventional departments, to facilitate inter-disciplinary research and a seamless flow of knowledge within the Institute. Students, even at the undergraduate level, get to participate in ongoing research and technology development - an opportunity unprecedented in India.
SPEC mode of admission
(1) What is SPEC mode : The SPEC mode is a Special Channel of Admission for B.Tech programmes in the following two programs in IIITH :
a) B.Tech (Electronics and Communication Engineering)
b) B.Tech (Computer Science and Engineering)
(2) Eligibility
Candidates must pass 12th class or equivalent by July 2021 with Maths, Physics and Chemistry and belong to one of the following categories :
a) Qualified for the UDAAN scheme of CBSE
b) Studied at a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) at least for the last 2 years (11th and 12th)
c) Currently enrolled in 4th Semester of an integrated, six-year, 12th + B.Tech programme (after the 10th class).
(3) Selection procedure & test details
Selection shall be through a Subject Proficiency (SUPR) test and interview.

Mode : Online
Duration : 60 minutes
SUPR test syllabus : The syllabus is based on 11th and 12th level of Physics, Maths, Chemistry (CBSE and most state syllabi).

Other modes of admission : In addition to the SPEC mode, IIIT-H provides admissions to 4 Year UG and 5 year integrated degree programs via (a) an UGEE (Under Graduate Entrance Exam) (b) special channel for KVPY/Olympiad candidates (c) DASA (Direct Admissions for Students Abroad) and (d) via JEE (Mains).
