Students specializing in a particular discipline are encouraged to take courses in other disciplines, thus maintaining the strong interdisciplinary flavour of the programme.

Option to go for MSc : Students who complete all requirements for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Research) degree have the option of getting a Master of Science degree by studying at the Institute for a fifth year.

Supercomputing facility : The Supercomputer Education and Research Centre (SERC) supports state-of-the-art computing facilities that cater to the ever-increasing demands of high performance computing for scientific and engineering research. The supercomputing facility at SERC is a symbiosis of computing, storage, graphics, visualization and network. The Centre has been conceived of as a functionally distributed supercomputing environment housing leading-edge computing systems with sophisticated software packages, and connected by a powerful high-speed network. In addition to the facilities offered by SERC, computer laboratory facilities are available exclusively for undergraduate students in the UG infrastructure complex.
