Department of Design, Nirma University, started in 2017. The 4 year Undergraduate programme begins with a common Foundation year in Design. There is intense 15 weeks of learning in each of the 7 semesters in studios, classrooms, workshops and through field work. Learning through Internships and Apprenticeships happens during the 10 weeks summer vacation period, each year. The 8th Semester is a 4-month Industry project, on the basis of which the final Degree is granted.
Intake : 40 seats in each course (total 80 seats)
Seats for NRI / NRI Sponsored / Gulf Workers / Foreign nationals : Upto fifteen percent of intake is allocated for admission to NRI/NRI sponsored candidates. Over and above the Intake of 80, 15% (Supernumerary) seats are also allocated for admissions to Persons of Indian Origin, Foreign Nationals and Children of Indian Workers of Gulf Countries/South East Asia.
Selection Procedure : Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in UCEED examination (conducted by IIT Mumbai ) will be called for Situation Test and Personal Interview. The Situation Test and Personal Interview will be conducted at Nirma University, Ahmedabad. The candidates will be finally selected for admission based on the candidates' performance in the UCEED, Situation Test and Personal Interview. The following weightage will be given for each component of the selection criteria and composite scores will be computed based on the following selection criteria.
(a) Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination UCEED : 50%
(b) Situation Test : 30%
(c) Personal Interview : 20%
1) NRI students who have passed their qualifying examination from outside India will be exempted from UCEED / entrance test. Their evaluation for merit will be based on the minimum qualifying marks as per Nirma University rules of higher secondary education or equivalent exam of the country of residence, skype interview, two letters of recommendation from senior school teachers and portfolio shared through email.
2) The admission in PIO/FN/CIWGC-SEA category alongwith its criteria and application form will be announced separately by the International Relation office, Nirma University on Nirma University website.
