The department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. Of Punjab, established Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), in 1995, comprehending and visualizing the need of trained professionals in the arena of Textile and Garment Industry. The institute offers various undergraduate & postgraduate programs from its three campuses - Mohali, Ludhiana & Jalandhar. The institute is affiliated to I K Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar in awarding degrees.

Intake:

NIIFT offers following 3-year (6-semesters) undergraduate programs in Design at its 3 campuses :

- B.Sc Fashion Design : Mohali (60 seats), Ludhiana (60 seats), Jalandhar (30 seats) 

- B.Sc Fashion Design (Knits) / Knitwear Design & Technology : Ludhiana (30 seats)

- B.Sc Textile Design : Mohali (60 seats)

Total - 240 seats

Selection criteria

Admission will be on the combined merit drawn for NIIFT Mohali and NIIFT Ludhiana centres.

Final merit list will be compiled on the weightage based on Online Examination and weightage of Online Exam and Interview detailed as under:

- Picture Analysis : 70% weightage of 35 marks

- Personal Interview : 30% weightage of 15 marks

No entrance test for BSc Textile Design - Admission in BSc Textile Design will be on the basis of merit of qualifying examination (Class 12 marks)

Fee structure

Tuition Fee : Rs. 52,000/- per semester

Other one time & annual fees: Rs 15,750

Hostel Security : Rs.4,000/- (one time, fully refundable)

Hostel fee : Rs. 12,500/- per semester

Fee payable to University : Rs.9,950/- (total over 3 years)

Punjab & All India quota seats : 85% seats for Punjab domicile candidates. 15% seats are open to all India students.

The eligibility criteria for 85% seats will be that the candidate must be resident of Punjab State in terms of Punjab Government, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (PPI Br.)Letter No.1/3/95-3PP1/9619, dated the 6th June, 1996 and letter No.1/3/95-PP-II/80, dated the 1st January, 1999 and should have passed qualifying examination from any recognized Board/University.
Reservations : PTU Reservation Policy of Punjab Domicile and outside Punjab criteria and other reservation will be followed.

Weightage of 5% in marks shall be given to students of Punjab Domicile who have studied at least three years or have passed 11th and 12th from schools located in rural area.
