The National Testing Agency has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in selected Central / State University / Institutions including IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Government Colleges.
NTA is conducting this on behalf of National Council For Teacher Education (NCTE), a Statutory Body of the Government of India under the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE).
The role of NTA is confined to the registration of candidates, conduct of the test, hosting of answer keys, inviting challenges, finalizing answer keys, preparing and declaring result, and hosting Score Card.
Merit list will be prepared by the participating Universities / Institutions / Government Colleges. They may conduct their individual counselling on the basis of the score card of NCET 2023 provided by NTA.
About the 4 Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme: The ITEP is a Dual Major Programme:
- first major is in Education with School Specific Stage specialization and
- second major is in an opted discipline.
Beyond the teaching of cutting-edge pedagogy, the teacher education will include a grounding in sociology, history, science, psychology, early childhood care, and education, foundational literacy and numeracy, knowledge of India and its values / ethos / art / traditions, and more. [NEP 2020: 15.5]

Score format: The raw score of each candidate in each subject will be normalized using the Equipercentile method. This is done separately for each subject for which the examination is held in multiple shifts.
For each subject for which the examination is held in multiple shifts, the raw score for each candidate appearing for the subject will be converted into NTA Score (Percentile Score & Normalized Score).
Counseling: Candidates who will be appearing in NCET will participate in the Counselling / admission process of any Central / State University / Institution (IITs, NITs, RIEs, and Govt. Colleges) which have been granted recognition by NCTE for ITEP for the academic session 2023-24. University/ Institution / Govt. College may fill up the vacant seats thereafter from the pool of NCET-qualified candidates.
Common Service Centres / Facilitation Centres: There are more than 1.5 lakhs Common Services Centres (CSC) across the country which will provide the desired support to candidates from urban as well as rural areas in online submission of Application Form and payment of fee through e-wallet.
