The establishment of the erstwhile University of Cochin in 1971 was a commitment from the Government of Kerala towards the new scientific policy resolution adopted by the Central Government on 4th March 1958. It was later reorganized as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986, redefining its objectives as the promotion of graduate and post graduate studies and advanced research in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management and social sciences.

There are two campuses, as listed below, where the BTech / Integrated MSc courses are offered :

a) Main Campus situated at Thrikkakara, Kalamassery, Kochi-22 (Referred to as Campus 1)

b) Kuttanadu Campus (CUCEK) situated at Pulincunnoo, Alappuzha District (80 KM away from Campus 1) (Referred to as Campus 2)

Please note that not all courses are available at both campuses. Campus wise course/seat availability is mentioned in subsequent para “Campus wese intake”.

(b) 5 Year Integrated MSc

20 in MSc Photonics and 60 in MSc Statistics / Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics in Campus 1

Exemption from CAT : For Integ MSc (Stats/Phy/Chem/Maths), preference in admission will be given to students possessing KVPY (Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana) scholarship. They need not have to appear for CAT, but they have to apply for CAT through online and should pay the application fee.

Reservations / All India quota

Different seat quota available for State merit, All India merit and NRIs.

State merit seats are reserved only for Keralite students.

Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply under All India merit seats.

Reservation also available under various categories like SC, ST, SEBC, Physically Challenged, Sports, Jews, NRIs, Lakshadweep Sponsored Candidates, Navy Sponsored Seats, Communal reservation etc. Pls read the details carefully (Chapter 15) of the prospectus before applying.

NRI seats : NRI Seats: Any Indian Citizen/OCI/PIO is eligible to apply for NRI seats. NRI status is not compulsory to apply for seats under this category but the candidates should submit a ‘Declaration’ in the format given in the Annexure I at the time of their admission. Candidates who wish to apply for NRI seats must opt for the same at the time of online application itself and should pay the additional application fee of Rs.5,000/-. In addition to this, they have to opt for the NRI seats as one of their choice at the time of selecting the preference of programmes/seats. Candidates who did not opt for NRI category at the time of online application will not be considered for allotment to NRI seats and this status cannot be corrected at any later stage. However, any candidate in the rank list is eligible to participate in the NRI Spot Admission, if seats are available after allotments subject to the submission of the declaration given in the Appendix I.

Dubai test centre : Additional fee of Rs.10,000 over and above the application fee is to be paid if Dubai test centre is opted for. If sufficient number of candidates is not opting for Dubai the centre may be cancelled. In case of cancellation of Centres in UAE, candidates will have to write their exams at Ernakulam.

Scholarship to students at CUCEK Campus 2 : For select BTech branches, 50% of Tuition Fee will be offered as Scholarship to 10% of the Students with higher CAT rank in each branch of Study at CUCEK.
