Banaras Hindu University is a Central University and an internationally reputed temple of learning, situated in the holy city of Varanasi and was founded by the great nationalist leader, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, in 1916 with cooperation of great personalities like Dr Annie Besant, who viewed it as the University of India. Banaras Hindu University is a Central University and was created under the Parliamentary legislation - B.H.U. Act 1915. The university comprises 3 Institutes, 14 Faculties 140 Departments, 4 Inter displinary Centers a constituent college for women's and 3 Constituents Schools, spanning a vast range of subjects pertaining to all branches of humanities,social science,technology, medicine ,science, fine arts and performing arts.
The Banaras Hindu University conducts Undergraduate Entrance Tests (UET) for admission to various Undergraduate Courses as given hereunder for the Session. UET also covers admissions into 5-Year (10 semesters) Integrated B.A. LL.B (Hons) for students after Class XII.
- 15% seats are super-numerary (i.e. in addition to sanctioned intake) for BHU employee ward
- 2 seats for BA LLB under sports quota
- Provision to the extent of 15% supernumerary seats for Foreign Nationals exist, out of which 5% seats will be filled up by children of NRIs [Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)] and 5% by children of Indian workers in Gulf and South Asian Countries.
