Bengaluru Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE) is a Unitary University and institute of excellence set up by Govt of Karnataka. BASE University is being modelled on the lines of the celebrated London School of Economics. BASE will not only set a new model in teaching and research in economics but shall also assist the Government of Karnataka and Union Government of India in policy formulations, to inform them through research the effectiveness of the policies. BASE would focus on imparting holistic knowledge in the discipline of economics by providing an understanding of other social sciences disciplines such as political sciences, sociology, philosophy, ethics etc. The teaching and training will focus on freedom to think and allow freely the new currents in economics and allied social sciences. The dogmatism in the framing of the syllabus, the orthodox course material, will be given a go bye.
No. of seats : 60 seats for Indian candidates + 5 seats for PIO/ Foreign Nationals
Selection procedure : Students will be selected on the basis of performance in an online test. Selection process for the PIO/ Foreign National is based on the merit list of the performance in the respective qualifying examination.
Scholarships : BASE shall facilitate the scholarship applications of the reserved category and minority students of Karnataka by providing them the required AISHE (All India Survey on Higher Education) Code, which is necessary during online application in the National Scholarship Portal (https://scholarships.gov.in/).
Placements : Consulting firms, Regulatory bodies, Academic institutions, Thinktank, Banking and Financial services, and NGOs
Internships : PwC, RBL Bank, E&Y, NABARD, Motilal Oswal, India Exim Bank
Fee structure : Total fee (for GEN/OBC) for 5 years Integrated M.Sc. Economics course with an option to exit after 3 years (including Hostel Fee and Refundable deposit) for the students admitting in 2021-22 is as follows:
