CAUTION : AIIMS and JIPMER BSc (Nursing) 2018 Entrance Exams on same date
2018-01-11The date of 2018 entrance exam to be conducted by AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) for 4 Year BSc Nursing course clashes with the date of entrance exam for Nursing course offered by JIPMER (Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research).
About JIPMER : Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) under Government of India since the year 1956, is one of the leading Medical Institutions of India. Spread over 195 acre campus in Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry), JIPMER is 170kms. by road from Chennai. It was declared as an Institution of National Importance by a Parliamentary Act, i.e. JIPMER, Puducherry, Act, 2008.

About AIIMS : An Act of Parliament in 1956 established the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi), as an autonomous institution of national importance and defined its objectives and functions. By virtue of this Act, the Institute grants its own medical degrees and other academic distinctions. The degrees granted by the Institute under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act are recognized medical qualifications for the purpose of the Indian Medical Council Act and notwithstanding anything contained therein, are deemed to be included in the first schedule of that Act, entitling the holders to the same privileges as those attached to the equivalent awards from the recognized Universities of India.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana 6 new All India Institutes of Medical Sciences have been established similar to AIIMS, New Delhi. Government of India had decided that from Academic Session August, 2013, B.Sc. (Hons) Nursing course will be started in six new AIIMS at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh.
