Karnataka Nursing Council Recognition in Jeopardy
2017-09-12As reported in recent past by Times of India, The Kerala Nursing Council had recently warned the students who register under various institutions in Karnataka this year that they may have to face a jobless situation in Kerala as the Karnataka Nursing Council has not received the certification of Indian Nursing Council.
The members of Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council told said that the students will not get jobs in the hospitals in Kerala unless the institution they enrolled has Indian Nursing Council's certification.
"According to Karnataka high court judgment, students who complete their course in Karnataka will have the provision to work there. But in order to work in other states, they need certification from Indian Nursing Council. Most hospital owners in Kerala are reluctant to provide jobs to students who belong to Karnataka Nursing Council by citing the reason that they lack quality education," said P K Thampi, member, Indian Nursing Council.
Valsa K Panicker, registrar, KNMC, said “The students should make sure whether the institution in which they enroll has certification from Indian Nursing Council. It is usually students belonging to financially backward classes who fall victim of this. The agents who work for the nursing institutions in Karnataka are efficient in making people believe their fake promises. Usually, the students are attracted by the fee concession strategies and other attractive packages offered by such institutions. It is always necessary to confirm the registration of those institutions on the website of Indian Nursing Council (www.indiannursingcouncil.org),"
