No engineering degree if you do not do yoga or sports
2017-07-11In an interesting development, probably to promote healthier life style, AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) has made it mandatory for students of engineering courses to take up yoga or sports or NSS (National Social Service) or NCC (National Cadet Corps) or participate in Unnat Bharat Abhiyan to be eligible to get their degree. Though these will not carry any marks, minimum 25% attendance shall be mandatory. This applies with the 2017-18 academic session. Under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan of the Govt, the students will have to visit villages and engage with the rural people to learn from their lifestyle.
Hindustan Times quoted an AICTE official stating “Apart from studies, students need to do other activities too which is good for their well being and for the society too.”
