JEE-Adv 2022: DIRECT Chance For Covid Impacted Students

2022-01-29

In a recent move, the Joint Admission Board (JAB), having the authority to frame the policies, rules and regulations of Joint Entrance Examination under the guidance of the IIT Council, has decided to permit an extra attempt for those candidates who were unable to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2020 or 2021 on account of being Covid-19 positive. Of course this comes with certain qualifiers to ensure that no students are adversely impacted in respect of their chances of getting into the prestigious institutes.JEE Adv 2022 Without JEE Mains For Covid Impacted Students

The key points of the statement of JAB state the following:

a) “Candidates who appeared in Class 12 (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2020 OR 2021 AND successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2021 but were absent in BOTH the papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2, of JEE (Advanced) 2021, are eligible to directly appear for JEE (Advanced) 2022.”

b) “This one-time measure is applicable to ONLY those candidates for whom the appearance in JEE (Advanced) 2022 will be their first or second attempt and is not applicable to candidates who appeared for their Class 12 exam for the first time before 2020.”

c) “No candidate will be allowed to appear in JEE (Advanced) more than two times.".
