KVPY 2019 Application Date Extended

Owing to the flood situation in many states, the last date for application for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana has been extended by 10 days. The last date of application is now 31 Aug 2019.

Courses eligible for grant of Fellowships : Under the KVPY programme, attractive fellowships are provided to students who enroll in Basic Science courses like BSC, BS, B.Stat, B.Math, Integrated MSc, Integrated MS in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Ecology, Molecular Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biotechnology, Neurosciences, Bioinformatics, Marine Biology, Geology, Human Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Sciences, Applied Physics, Geophysics, Materials Science or Environmental Science.

About KPVY

KVPY "Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana" is an ongoing National Programme of Fellowships, funded by the Dept of Science of Technology, Govt of India and implemented by the India Institute of Science, Bengaluru. KVPY was started in 1999 to encourage students who are studying Basic Sciences to take up research career in Science. The aim of the program is to identify and encourage talented and motivated students to pursue career in research.

Fellowship amounts

Rs.5,000 per month + Annual Contingency Grant of Rs.20,000 during 1st to 3rd years of  B.Sc / B.S / B.Stat / B.Math / Integrated M.Sc / M.S

Rs.7,000 per month + Annual Contingency Grant of Rs.28,000 during  M. Sc. / 4th to 5th  years of Integrated M.Sc / M.S / M.Math / M.Stat

Selection procedure

a) Aptitude Test : After scrutiny of application forms and meeting the eligibility criteria for various streams, all eligible students will be called for  aptitude test conducted both in Hindi and English at different centers across the country.

b) Interview : Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be asked to appear for an interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.

Exemption from IISER Aptitude Test for KVPY Scholars : Please note that KVPY is one the 3 channels for admission into the 7 prestigious Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati. For admission in IISERs, KVPY fellowship winners are exempt from appearing in IISER’s Aptitude Test (ofcourse a cutoff KVPY score is applicable).
