JNU 2019 Entrance Exam Postponed

2018-12-10

Jawaharlal Nehru University issued a press release yesterday announcing the postponement of the JNU Entrance Exam (JNUEE 2019) for admissions to all its UG & PG programs for the session starting August 2019.  JNUEE 2019 was scheduled to be held from December 27th onwards.  For undergraduate studies, JNU offered  BA(H) in Foreign languages (Persian, Pushto, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, French, German, Russian, Spanish).

The exams will now be held in the month of May 2019.  The dates would be announced in due course.

The reasons offered by the University for the postponement from Dec'2018 to May'2019 are the following:
1. That students in general have difficulty in sitting for the entrance exam in the month of December.
2. Two important changes have been incorporated starting this year which necessitates this shift in schedule.  One, the entrance exam would be MCQ based and would be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). And two, the entrance exam would be computer based test.  The university plans to double the mock-test centres to allow applicants, especially from remote areas, to familiarize with the online test environment.  These would take time to setup and hence the decision to move the exam schedule to May'2019.
