NTA to conduct JEE Mains in Jan and April, NEET in Feb and May

National Testing Agency, the much awaited organization anticipated to take over the task of conducting competitive exams from CBSE, seems to be taking shape with its inning beginning in 2019-20 session. As per the statement of Union Education Minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar, NTA will conduct all these exams in online mode. Besides JEE and NEET, the NTA shall also conduct the National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) and Common Management Admission Test (CMAT).

During the launch of NTA at Shashtri  Bhawan in New Delhi, Javadekar said at a press conference that the syllabus, nature of questions, language alternatives and exam fees will remain the same.

"NTA has started its work and will conduct exams from this year," he said, adding that UGC-NET will be the first exam held by the NTA in December this year. He further informed that NEET will be held in February and May while and JEE Main will be conducted in January and April. And the best score will be taken into account for admission.

He further stated that each round of the exam will take approx 4 to five days, with say two lakh students per day. This will offer flexibility and also advantage to students in terms of getting the best of their two attempts being counted for admission.

To ensure that students lacking access to computers are disadvantaged, the Minister informed that such students will get a chance to take mock tests at centres identified by the Ministry of Human Resources Development from August onwards.
