The Central University of Karnataka (CUK) was established by the Parliament of India vide Act No. 3 of 2009. It is one of the sixteen new Central Universities, aimed at increasing access to quality higher education in districts with a Graduate Enrolment Ratio less than the national average. CUK, started in 2009 and has a 654 acres campus, situated near the district of Kalaburagi (earlier called Gulbarga), Karnataka. Currently the University is running 16 Departments spread in 8 Schools and 1 Centre, and offering 9 Dual degree programs, 15 Master degree programs, 16 Research (PhD) programs.

Admission procedure : Admission to this course is through CUCET (Central Universities Common Entrance Test). A consortium of 10 Central Universities of Haryana, Jharkhand, Jammu, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, South Bihar and Tamil Nadu established by an act of Parliament and the Bengaluru Dr.B.R. Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE)registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, jointly organize a combined CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CUCET) for admission to their various programmes.

Eligibility : (a) Passed PU/Plus Two examination from a recognized Indian or foreign Institutions/Board (as per foreign equivalence list) and secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% for OBC {NON CREAMY LAYER}, SC, ST, PWD and Kashmiri Migrant Students) (b) Secured a minimum of 40% (35% for OBC {NON CREAMY LAYER}, SC, ST, PWD and Kashmiri Migrant Students) marks in the Central Universities Common Entrance Test 2018
