6 Little Known Facts about B.Arch Eligibility

In our previous blog  ‘NATA 2017 - Take Note of 6 Changes' we wrote about the changes introduced in National Aptitude Test in Architecture NATA exam in 2017. We were overwhelmed by the number of queries received from anxious students especially regarding eligibility criteria for B.Arch programs in India.  But we were not surprised. Not the least because this is a pretty confusing topic even for the experts.  In this blog, we will bring forth the facts. So, here you go.

But hey, to begin with, let us put forth one of the key but very little know facts – in many institutes (Govt as well as private), you do not need to be a science student for admission in B.Arch. And this is the last year for this – from next year (2019 batch),PCM in Class 12 will be made mandatory for B.Arch admission. So read on …

1. For Architecture programs in IITs (IIT-Kharagpur & IIT-Roorkee)

Compulsory subjects in Class 12: Physics & Mathematics

Eligibility : Top 2,24,000 in JEE-Main 2018 Paper-1 (Physics, Chemistry & Maths)

Selection : Qualify in JEE-Main Paper 1 + Qualify in JEE-Adv (Paper 1 & Paper 2) + Pass in Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT)

 

2. Architecture admissions in any of the NITs, IIITs and CFTIs (Centrally Funded Technical Institutions)

Compulsory subjects in Class 12: Mathematics

Eligibility : Min 75% (65% for SC/ST candidates) or be in top 20 percentile in Class 12 board

Selection : Paper 2 of JEE-Main  (Maths, Aptitude & Drawing).  Candidate need not apply for Paper-1 (Physics, Chemistry & Maths) if he/she interested only in Architecture.

 

3. Admissions to architecture programs in UP

Compulsory subjects : Physics & Mathematics

Eligibility : Min 50% aggregate and passed without grace in compulsory subjects

Selection : Paper 4 of UPSEE: Part A: Maths & Aesthetic Sensibility  Part B:  Drawing Aptitude

 

4. Admissions to architecture programs in West Bengal via WBJEE

Compulsory subjects : Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.

Eligibility :  Aggregate 50% in Class 12

Selection : (WBJEE Paper 1 & Paper 2) + (NATA or Paper-2 of JEE-Main)

 

5. Admissions to architecture programs in Jadavpur University

Compulsory subjects : Physics & Mathematics.

Eligibility : Aggregate 60% (45% for Reserved Category Candidates) in PCM taken together & Min 30% in English in Class 12

Selection : WBJEE Paper 1 & Paper 2 + (NATA or JEE-Main Paper-2)

 

5 Admissions to architecture program in AMU

Compulsory subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & English

Eligibility : Min 50% in aggregate in PCM & English

Selection : AMU Paper 1 (Physics, Chemistry & Maths) + AMU Paper 2 (Aesthetic Sensitivity & Drawing)

 

6. Admissions to other architecture programs across India via NATA

Compulsory subjects : Mathematics

Eligibility : 50% aggregate marks with Mathematics in Class 12

Selection : NATA
