Why JIPMER, AIIMS, JEE-Adv are the toughest exams

Now that the exam season is behind us and students and institutes are busy with counselling and admissions, we thought it pruduent to share certain statistics. In this piece, we would like to share about success ratio's for some of the entrance exams in Engineering & Medical.  Success ratio is the ratio of available seats to the number of candidates who took a particular entrance exam.

Let us begin with Engineering.

JEE Mains:  
Success Ratio: 2.25% (Appeared: 1120000  Seats: 221000)
(Considering seats in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs)

JEE Advanced:  
Success Ratio: 1.14% (Appeared: 1120000  Seats: 12717)
(Considering seats in IITs, IISERs, IIST, RGIPE, IIPE, IISC)
(Although only 170000 of those who appeared for JEE-Mains qualified to write JEE-Adv, we have taken 1120000 as the total population who attempted to qualify for JEE-Adv) 

MHT-CET:  
Success Ratio: 47.47% (Appeared: 291000  Seats: 138136)

COMEDK-UGET:  
Success Ratio: 33.94% (Appeared: 58932  Seats: 2000)

CET-K-Eng (Karnataka):  
Success Ratio: 44% (Appeared: 125000  Seats: 55000)

TS-EAMCET:  
Success Ratio: 41.98% (Appeared: 131000  Seats: 55000)

AP-EAMCET:  
Success Ratio: 83.74% (Appeared: 187484  Seats: 157000)

GCET-Eng (Goa):  
Success Ratio: 24.04% (Appeared: 5116  Seats: 1230)

Medical

JIPMER:  
Success Ratio: 0.11% (Appeared: 189000  Seats: 200)

AIIMS:  
Success Ratio: 0.25% (Appeared: 284737  Seats: 700)

NEET:  
Success Ratio: 8.34% (Appeared: 1138894  Seats: 95000)

From the extreme low success ratios, it is clear that JIPMER and AIIMS, both from Medicine, are one of the toughest entrance exams to get through. This is followed by JEE Advanced and JEE Mains in Engineering.  No surpsrise then in the clamour for coaching for these entrance exams!
