The Karnataka Common Entrance Test is conducted for the purpose of determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to the First year or First semester of full time courses for Government share of seats in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Bachelor of Yoga and Naturopathy (BNYS), Farm Science courses i.e., Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc. & A.H.), B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture, B.Sc. (Hons) Sericulture, B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture, B.Sc (Hons) Forestry, B.Tech. Biotechnology, B.Sc. (Hons) Community Science, B.Tech (Agri. Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Technology), B.F.Sc. (Fisheries), B.Sc. (Hons) Agri. Business Management, B. Pharma and Pharma-D course, in Government / University / Private Aided / Private Un-Aided Professional Educational Institutions in the State of Karnataka. For admission to Architecture course candidate should compulsorily appear for NATA conducted by the Council of Architecture.
Domicile : Candidates who satisfy one of the 15 specified clauses / eligibility criteria only are eligible for selection / allotment of government seats. Pls read the same carefully before applying.
Reservation : available for various categories including Rural, Kannada, Defence, Sports, NCC, Scouts and Guides, Physically disabled, Anglo Indian, Para military, J&K migrants etc. Pls refer relevant sections of the prospectus for details.
Agriculturist quota is available for Farm science courses (in B.Tech, it is applicable only for Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotech and Agriculture Engineering).
Minimum of 50% marks in Practical Examination is required to claim seat under Agriculturist Quota.
Note on non-eligibility for previous year seat allotted candidates : A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline through KEA (CET Cell) in any of the previous years and not surrendered the seat before the last date fixed for entry of options for final round of seat allotment for the respective disciplines will not be eligible for allotment of a seat to the same discipline during 2023 as per rule 15 (5) of CET-2006 Admission Rules. However, he / she is eligible to appear for CET-2023 for allotment of seat in any other discipline. Eg: If a candidate had selected Engineering seat during previous year, he / she will not be considered for allotment of seats in the same engineering discipline, however, he or she is eligible for selection of Medical / Dental / ISM&H / Architecture / Farm Science courses, B-Pharma / Pharma-D, if he / she is fulfilling the eligibility conditions. Further, the seat selected during the previous year gets automatically cancelled, upon selection of a seat in a different discipline during this year.
